Winners and pics from the ‘Special Festive Staff WoW’ on 17/12/15

Dear Warriors,

A fabulous Special ‘Festive Staff WoW’, last week, with three winners from the six lecturers who defended positions. Strangely, this echoes last year’s Staff WoW score, when it was 3-3 too. Spooky…

Thanks to Kevin Rogers, Penny Carey, Edina Harbinja, Henry Pearce and Steve Goulton for being such a great sport.

…and well done to our ‘Judge of the Day’ – Danielle Brown-Cook, who came up with some excellent questions for all of the staff.

Here are some photos of the evening:

See you on January 21st 2016 for the next WoW. Have a wonderful Xmas and New Year!

Dear Warriors,

The crowd were on scintillating form in the WoW session this week, with only one winning Candidate beating the audience judges, on the following topic:

That Wikipedia is making us all less intelligent – Anisha Kiri

…and our ‘Judge of the Day’ – Xinia James, who asked consistently sharp questions for all of our Candidates.

Weekly WoW positions released for 10/12/15!!!

Dear Warriors,

Which of the university’s 10 schools produces the most analytical, brave, persuasive, intelligent Warriors???

To discover the answer to this question, I am delighted to release the last in Semester A Weekly WoW positions – for all students across the university – for THURSDAY 10th DECEMBER, to be held in N003 (the lecture theatre close to the Weston Auditorium) at 6pm.

If you would like to defend any of these positions, please volunteer, using the ‘comments’ box below, and I will assign you a position at random (subject to availability):

1. That you can’t teach entrepreneurship

2. That online dating is for losers

3. That birthdays are pointless

4. That it is manly to cry

5. That it pays to lie

6. That giving money to beggars is noble

You will need to consider the position, research it carefully and then defend it for one minute – then be subjected to questions from the audience. You will be marked on three criteria; (i) content – what you say initially and in response to questions; (b) presentation – how you say it, and how well you controlled the crowd; and (c) popularity – the public vote. The judge’s decision is final – and NATHAN GHANN AND I (!!!) will be your judges! N.B. If you volunteer, then you MUST attend and participate – no ‘cold feet’.

As usual, the weekly social in Club DeHavilland will take place straight afterwards from 7.30pm onwards.

See you on the 10th!

Dan
